The widow of the artist left a testimony detailing several aspects of the painter's inner feelings. In it, she explains that his landscapes, more precisely his representations of the Luxembourg, its pond, its statues were, in a way, his secret garden. These private moments with nature, far from whimsical models, were hours of true happiness.
